Introduction to Switzerland

Switzerland is a predominantly Christian country. There are 26 cantons in this country including; Zurich, Berne, Luzern, Uzi, Obwelden, Nidweldon, Galrus, Zug, Freiburg, Solothurn, Aargao, Thurgao, Ticino, Vaud, Wallis, Geneve, Juna, St Gallen, Schwyz, Basel-Stadt and 6 more cantons are parts of this country. This country is located on the land of Europe. The capital city of this country is Bern and the biggest city of this country is Zurich with 1.44 million population in 2024 and the total population of Switzerland is approx 8.84 million in 2024.

This country has Diplomatic relations with many countries like; France, United Kingdom, Netherland, Russia, Belgium, United States, Brazil, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Denmark, Mexico, Sweden, Argentina, Turkey, Greece, Luxambourg, Iran, Jordan, Pakistan, China, India and many other countries are including in this list.  This country also has many beautiful places like; The matterhorn, Zermatt, Jungfraujoch, Interlaken, Lucerne, lake geneva,  Montruex, St. Mortiz, Bern and many different places are owned by switzerland.

Why is this country so famous?

Jungfraujoch: Known as the “Top of Europe”, Interlaken: A popular destination for adventure sports, Lucerne: Famous for its medieval architecture, Zurich the largest city of this country, Bern the capital city of this country, Appenzel a small swiss canton, ST. Mortise’s world’s top winter playground and many other places are attractions of Switzerland and that’s why many people like to visit this country anyhow.

History

Switzerland was founded on 18 September 1848 but it celebrates independence day on 1st August. Sir Swiss Plasm is the national poet of this country. Viola Ameherd is called the first lady of this country. Jonas Furrer served as the first president of the Swiss Confederation, Henri Druey served as the second president of the Swiss Confederation, Josef Munzinger served as the Third president of the Swiss Confederation, Jonas Furrer served as the fourth president of the Swiss Confederation, Wilhelm Matthias Naeff served as the Fifth president of the Swiss Confederation and the current president of this country is Viola Amherd.

There are many wars fought with Switzerland but here are 3 famous wars of this country; Old Zurich war start in 1440 and end in 1446 with victory of swiss Confederation, Burgundian War start in 1474 and end in 1477 with Franco-Swiss victory, War of the League of Cambrai start in 1511 and ends in 1516 with the defeat of this country and many wars are fought involving this country.

Switzerland is located on the land of Europe and the region is Central/Western Europe. The coordinates of this country is 47° N 8° E. The total area is 41,2932 km which rank 134 in all over the world. It has 95.8% land and 4.2% water. The total coastline of this country is 0km. Total land borders is 1,852 km (1,151 mi) Italy: 734.2 km (456.2 mi), France: 571.8 km (355.3 mi), Germany: 345.7 km (214.8 mi), Austria: 165.1 km (102.6 mi), Liechtenstein: 41.1 km (25.5 mi).

The highest point of this country is Dufourspitze with a height of 4,634 m and the lowest point of this country is Lake Maggiore with a height of 193 m. The longest River of this country is the Rhine which is 375.5 km long and the largest lake is Lake Geneva. The currency of this country is Swiss franc CHF and the dialing code is +41 of switzerland.
